No, until the year 2035 there will be no direct train. That is when the Hokkaido Shinkansen is scheduled to be extended via Otaru to Sapporo. It is also generally faster to travel via Sapporo. But I think there are a couple of connections per day via the Hakodate Line (with a transfer at Oshamambe) that are as fast as the connections via Sapporo, but cheaper.
