Questions on trip to Osaka

Hi All,
This will be my first trip travel to Japan without any guide and solely on my own in mid Nov. I have few questions to ask;
1. I will be landing really late in KIX, like 11pm and plan to stay in Osaka for 2 nights before heading to Kyoto for 5 nights. I like to know which areas I choose to stay? Greatly appreciate if you could recommend some reasonable hotels too.
2. Which are places worth for sightseeing during autumn?

I recommend you stay in or around Namba. That's where most of the interesting/entertainment places are.
We've stayed in Shinsaibashi Hearton Hotel. Great location and reasonably prices. Very close to the subway.
I don't know if there are any specific autumn sights. Maybe the trees in Osaka Castle could be nice?
