Travel from Kyoto to Obuse with a JR Pass?

My wife and I are hoping to travel from Kyoto to Obuse to see the Hokusai Museum on one day and return on the next day. Unfortunately, (1) I am been unable to find the train timetable , so not even sure that such a trip is possible, (2) can you use your JR Pass on this line, and (3) how long would such a journey take?

Only the last short section between Nagano and Obuse is not covered by the Japan Rail Pass. And, of course, you may not use a Nozomi between Kyoto and Nagoya.
