Asahidake - autumn foliage & bus times

Can anyone tell whether it is too late to arrive here by end September for the autumn foliage and the bus times between Asahiwawa & Asahidake ?
According to the info here, there is a bus from Asahikawa at 9.30am but the guide book mentioned it's 9.05am and 10.45am.
I found a train from Sapporo to arrive Asahikawa by 8.59am or 9.10am. I will plan for it if the bus is certainly at 9.30am
Is this bus available for booking before departure date or can I just turn up at the station and get a ticket ?
