Nishiki Market best time

It's a great place to visit at any time of day, IMHO. (obviously I don't mean when it's closed ;0))

Early in the morning, of course.
Most shops close in the afternoon.
Note a demonstration of making mochi on the traditional method every day at 13:30. The store is called mochikiya.

We went there too early once and some shops were still closed. I would say best after 09:30

Unlike most markets, the shops around Nisiki Market keep pretty regular hours and tend not to open very late. Most of the shops, and especially those that appeal to tourists, will be open from about 9:00-18:00, but I'd recommend going from more like 10:00-16:00 so that you'll have a chance to see everything open.
