tsukiji fish market 2013/11/11 20:42
I'm staying at Ueno, would like to go to the tsukiji fish market auction.

I checked that the first train from Ueno to Shinbashi is 04.34-04.45 and from there I can walk.

Would like to know what you think of the chance of getting to see the auction on the 21st Nov (Thursday)?

Or would you recommend a taxi?
How much would it be and what time do I need to arrive to see the auction?

That puts your arrival at the market around 5:00 which may be too late to get a spot on the auction tours. Better to leave earlier by taxi (about 2200 yen) and aim to arrive at the sign in by 4:30 to ensure a spot.

The auction is closed to tourists (foreign and Japanese) from December 2, 2013 to January 18, 2014 because that is the busiest time of the year where visitors would be an even greater obstruction to the auction than they are already. It is also explained here:
