Hi! I am looking at travelling to Koyasan this January 29. Is it doable even at wintertime? How about accomodation? are there any other options aside from the Monastery which I heard is often fully booked? Any gem of info will be much appreciated. Thank you

Is it doable even at wintertime?Yes, Mount Koya is inhabited around the year. And all temples accept visitors around the year. Snow is not even guaranteed. are there any other options aside from the Monastery which I heard is often fully booked?I have never heard of anybody who had troubles booking a monastery at Koyasan because they were booked out (except maybe on some special festival dates, such as Kobo Daishi's anniversary date). There are dozens of monasteries, and they are almost never booked out. Try the booking methods explained on the following page: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e4905.html
