Kurobe Alpine Route on the 16th April

Hi, I was hoping to go from Matsumoto to do the Alpine Route on the 16th April. Will this be a definite being the first day of the route opening?
Also can I forward our luggage onto Takayama? And where should I do this from?

Will this be a definite being the first day of the route opening?No, it is just the scheduled opening day. Depending on weather and snow conditions, there is a risk that it may get delayed. I cannot remember however that there has ever been a delay in recent years. So, I think the risk is relatively low. Also can I forward our luggage onto Takayama?If you use the regular delivery services, you can do so with delivery on the next day: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2278.htmlAnd where should I do this from?I recommend to send it away from the hotel you stay at the night before or two nights before passing the Alpine Route.
