Day Onsen In Hakone

I will be doing a day trip to Hakone in mid April and would like to visit a private onsen for an hour with my family. Can someone please advise whether it is possible to do the various places of interests and going for an onsen bath in one day? We plan to return to Shinjuku by 7pm-8pm. What time does the last romancecar leave Hakone-Yumoto?

Which and how many "various places of interests" are you looking at?
Doing the typical round course should be fine but including the other attractions will definitely take up more time.
Start as early as you can.

We are thinking of the Hakone sightseeing model recommended by Odakyu, Hakone Checkpoint, the ropeway, Owakudani Valley, lake Ashi cruise, stop for lunch in between and/or tea if time permits, end with onsen bath. Is this possible in a day?

Should work out. Start the course at maybe 9am so you don't have to rush around.
