Sakura Viewing April 24, 2014

Hi!We are doing our itinerary, and thinking of travelling to Nagano to visit Takato-Joshi -Koen see the Cherry blossoms. Is it near Matsumoto? We will be coming from Tokyo. I appreciate any gem of information. Thank you very much in advance.

Takato Joshi Koen is in Inashi, about 90 mins away from Matsumoto. If coming from Tokyo, you need to transfer to the Iida line at Okaya.

From Inashi, you need to take a bus to Takato (25min) and then walk to the park (15min).

Once in Tokyo, you may try a day trip to Chichibu from Ikebukuro. They yave planted later blooming Sakura Trees in Hitsujiyama Park along the way to the Pink Moss fields (Phlox, also known as Shibazakura). The field should also be starting to bloom.

Last year was an "early year", and you may want to look at the images on the site for 2012.
