JAL or Jetstar Narita to Fukuoka 2014/3/16 20:38
We'll be flying into Narita, staying the night and looking around Narita city the next morning, then flying to Fukuoka. Both JAL and Jetstar have direct flights leaving Narita at the same time (15:25). Jetstar is slightly cheaper, even with the luggage charge included. Does Jetstar have other "hidden" costs, eg. would we have to pay for food and drinks on the flight? Any other considerations? I have a preference for flying with JAL, but we are on a reasonably tight budget, so if Jetstar is okay we'll probably try them instead.

Drinks and food are for purchase on Jetstar.

Actually, the flight is only about 90 minutes, so there is no real good selection of food and drinks. As far as taxes go, if the Japan domestic flight is on the same ticket with the international one and the connection from the international flight is within 24 hours, there is a tax that can be avoided (only about $5 though).
Jetstar lands at Domestic Terminal 1, and JAL at Domestic Terminal 2, either way you easily hop on the subway from the airport.
It's a nice city - for some good ideas of what to see and do, have a look at:

There's also a Fukuoka Tourist City Pass at
