Icoca & Haruka Pass Refund

Hi,
I read that unused credits for the ICOCA and Haruka Pass is refundable. I was wondering if this refund can be done anywhere inside Kyoto Station or is that only available in Kansai Airport?

Yes, the 500 yen deposit of the Icoca card and eventual remaining balance on the Icoca card (minus a 210 yen service fee) can be refunded at any JR train station with ticket counter in the Greater Osaka area. That includes JR West ticket counters at Kyoto Station (some of the ticket counters around the shinkansen gates are operated by JR Central and cannot do the refund).
