Gujo Hachiman from Takayama 2014/3/30 23:12
Hi there,
I am thinking about visiting Gujo Hachiman (day/afternoon visit) as a side trip from Takayama, I have a couple of questions.

It is worth seeing?

I can't get a feel for how far the GH Inter bus stop is from the town centre, can anybody advise?

Thanks in advance!

Gujo is a nice old town. I really liked it although its not so high on the usual visit list apart from Summer when they have festival dancing every night. So few spectacular sights but largely unspoilt. Its not that big so doubt the bus station is that far...

I believe that Gujo Hachiman is one of those special places in Japan; peaceful, beautiful and with little surprises that will hopefully delight.

I think the bus interchange is about 20-30 minutes walk from the centre of town.

You may also want to consider a day trip to Shirakawago. It is about an hour bus ride by Nohi bus. The bus ticket cost \2400/pax one way.
