Day trip by JRPass to Asahikawa and Abashiri 2014/4/18 18:54
We intend to go from Sapporo to Asahikawa and then to Abishiri and back to Sapporo by the last train.

From 9.30 am till 4.30pm at Asahikawa, where we have to leave to Abashiri, besides the Zoo and Ramen, where can we go for nice scenery nearby?

Is it worth to go to ShibaSakura Park or to Sounkyo by Bus or Taxis? Four of us are travelling from Malaysia.
Thank You.

I have thought you would have booked a hotel in Asahikawa.

I think that the way to Abashiri, and stop by to Takinoue Shibazakura Park or Sounkyo that's impossible. It takes about four hours by train from Asahikawa to Abashiri.
And I think that it is possible before or after you go to Asahiyama Zoo, go to Sounkyo.

It takes 2 hours and 20 minutes from Asahikawa to Takinoue Shibazakura Park. I think because of the different direction, and must be detour in order to go to Abashiri. In full bloom in the park would be mid-May.

Last train bound for Sapporo depart 5:18 PM from Abashiri, your trip is tight. I think that it would be to ride on Abashiri bound first train from Asahikawa, after arriving in Abashiri, and then the Abashiri tourism, to return aboard the last train.
