Nikko and Kamakura during golden week 2014/4/20 02:30
We are planning to travel to Japan for the first time this upcoming this May 2014. We will stay from the 3rd to the 7th in Tokyo and we were planning to visit Kamakura on the 5/5/2014 and Nikko on the 6/5/2014. We know that we are planning to travel in Golden Week but I was wondering if it is possible still to do so?

Thank you.

Yes, it is certainly possible! Just expect sights like Toshogu to be crowded.

Transportation to Kamakura should be no problem. The trains may even be less crowded than during regular weekdays. The Enoden may be crowded, though.

As for transportation to Nikko, some of the trains may be crowded, but since none of them require seat reservations (except the direct trains from Shinjuku), you can ride them, for sure.
