We are searching for different travel options between Takayama and Hakone. Are there any alternatives except taking a train with a connection in Nagoya? Is there a bus service and how long does it take?

Try Nohi bus from Takayama to Tokyo Shinjuku. There is no direct bus from Takayama to Hakone.
