Rainy Days (July) 2014/6/26 14:04
My family and I (4 adults) will be arriving KIX, Osaka on 3 July and from there proceed to Kyoto for a stay of 3 nights before returning to Osaka for another 3 nights. Based on the weather forecast, there will be heavy rain on 4/7 and 5/7 in Kyoto. We intend to travel to Nara on 4/7 for a day trip. Is it possible to do sight-seeing. Also there will be scattered showers in Osaka on 6/7, 7/7 and 8/7. Please advise can we still visit Universal Studio on 7/7 and Osaka Aquarium on 8/7. Would appreciate if anyone can give us some advice. Thanks!

only one week weather forecast is available.
this is the forecast in Kyoto pref.(not Kyoto city)

you can use umbrella. if you carry a foldable umbrella, you are ready for unexpected rain.

advice: if you write the date 4/7, this means April 7th in Japan, not 4th July. Today is 2014/6/26.

Do note that besides the bustling streets that feel like ancient japan, the other highlight of Kyoto is the zen/quiet/all-in-one feel. A light shower disperses the crowd and gives a certain mystic to the quiet scenery.
Especially: Ryoanji and Arashiyama

Heavy downpours on the other hand would require more sheltered walk ways. And this is available at the shopping arcades at central Kyoto. Nishiki market, manga museum, or stopping by a tea house are ways to spend time waiting for the rain to pass.
