I need some advise. I will depart from Kagoshima and intend to stay overnight at Kumamoto. I want to know if I want to go straight from Kagoshima to Chikugo Funagoya and then bus to Yanagawa for canal cruise before head back to Kumamoto. Is there a luggage storage for my luggage at Chikugo Funagoya station? Else, I will need to check in to Kumamoto accommodation and deposit my luggage before heading to Yanagawa. Appreciate any reply.

Yes, all shinkansen stations (and most regular stations) in Japan have coin lockers for storing luggage.
