Beach near Kyoto

Hello everyone,
So I am staying in Kyoto at the Palace side hotel from now to August 9th. I'm looking for a beach to go to that's not too far away. Thus far I haven't found any in Kyoto so I'm guessing their are none or I'm not looking hard enough. So if anyone can recommend a beach to go to that's in or around the city that would be great.

Have you looked at a map of Japan? Kyoto is a landlocked city, right in the centre of the Kansai region! You'd probably want to head out towards Wakayama. Look at a map of the Kansai region, or even better, a guidebook which could tell you about beaches.
