Avoiding autumn foliage crowd 2014/9/2 17:04
Hi all, I'm planning a 10-14 day trip to Japan next year and will cover areas like Tokyo, Kamakura, Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Himeji and maybe Nikko and Hiroshima.

I'm currently looking to go in the middle or second half of October but just in case it spills over to November, when in November should I return by in order to avoid the crowd coming to view the autumn foliage? Koyo is not a must for me. Thanks all!

You'll be too early for the autumn foliage. It doesn't peak until late November. Even then you can avoid the crowds simply by not going to popular places on the weekends. Saturdays are about 5-10 times as crowded as weekdays. Sundays are 3-4 times as crowded as Saturdays.
