Temples and views in Kamakura 2014/9/4 07:47
Considering the following itinerary in Kamakura: arrive Kita-Kamakura station, walk up the hill to Kencho-ji, hike the Tenen trail over to Zuisen-ji, then back to Kamakura station.

How much time should I allow at a leisurely pace?

Would it be any easier to do the reverse itinerary? Easier to get lost, it would seem. :-)

Thank you.

I have never walked a hiking trail only from Kencho direction.
(5 times position)
When'm from Zuisenji, it might come not understand a little entrance.
Stairs of Kencho is tough in the best hiking trails.
Since the most difficult, after you experience before it is easy fine.
However, if you enter from Kencho, You need admission fee.
Zuisenji does not enter into the temple, money is not applied.
There is not Zuisenji, also short course get off to such Kamakura-gu(daito-no-miya) direction.
According to Japan guide, it is a 60-90 minutes, but may take about 120-150 minutes when a break in the middle and tea house(tya-ya).

Walking to Kamakura Station Zuisenji, it may take about 45-60 minutes.
Bus is out of the Kamakura-gu(daitou-no-miya).
Kamakura-gu(daito-no-miya) is about 15 minutes walk from Zuisenji.
The first photo of this blog, is the entrance of Zuisenji side.

Thank you so much, Haro. The URLs are very helpful.

It gave me the idea that if our group does not have the time or physical fitness for the entire hike, then perhaps just going up the stairs behind Kenchoji to the temple and the platform may be a good alternative.

had many pictures to give me a better idea of how the trail would be, and perhaps a more realistic time estimate.
