Sagano Scenic Railway morning or afternoon

Hi folks,
We are planning a day trip to Arashiyama this November and have a few questions:
1. Is the Sagano Scenic Railway better taken in the morning or afternoon (from viewing perspective)?
2. How long does it take to walk through the Bamboo Groves?
3. If you can only choose one, where will you go: Tenryuji or Daikokuji Temple?
4. Is the Saga-Toriimoto Preserved Street well worth visiting?
5. We are planning to rent bicycles to reach the Saga-Toriimoto preserved street, but unsure if it's worth going or not. We think walking to the other destination by walking is enough?
Looking forward to your suggestions.
