chudenmae to miyajima use a tram or train 2014/9/14 14:49
hi,
i hold JR Railpass,

i want to know whats easier and possibly less time consuming..

things to consider. tram has around 30 stops where as a jr train has 9 stops..

i would have to travel back to hiroshima main station via tram then get on the Jr train

or

i can use tram to kamiyacho then catch Red line 2 to the station near island..

30 stops or so.. approx 1hr to complete journey... unsure what JR would do.

what would be best? easier? cheapest?
even the hiro-chudenmae was only 160Y thats cheap as anyways.

I love it here! Japan is magical

Use google traisit or
http://www.hyperdia.com/en/

Japan Rail Pass not covered all tram lines of Japan.
Also JR all six group not provide any subway and trams lines service.

By any of the two routes, you need roughly 1 hour 15 minutes to get to Miyajimaguchi Pier.
Hiroden Miyajima-guchi Station is closer than Miyajimaguchi Station of JR to Miyajimaguchi Pier.
If you can have a seat (almost) all the way on the second route, it may be worth paying 100 yen more.

Miyajimaguchi Pier and Miyajima Pier are connected by ferry routes of two companies: JR West Miyajima Ferry of JR-West Group and Miyajima Matsudai Tourist Ship of Hiroden Group. Naturally, a Japan Rail Pass covers ferry fares of the former company only.

Chuden-mae -- (the 11th stop) Hiroshima Station by Hiroden Streetcar Line 1
: about 20 minutes, roughly 3 km, 160 yen.
Hiroshima Station stop (of Hiroden) -- Hiroshima Station (of JR) on foot
: about 5 to 10 minutes.
Hiroshima Station: Track 1 -- (the 8th stop for a Local train) Miyajimaguchi Station by JR
: about 30 minutes, 21.8 km, covered by a nationwide Japan Rail Pass.
Miyajimaguchi Station -- Miyajimaguchi Pier on foot
: about 3 minutes, roughly 200 m partly via underground pathway.

Chuden-mae -- (the 3rd stop) Kamiyacho-higashi by Hiroden Streetcar Line 1
+ Kamiyacho-higashi -- (the 31st stop(#))Hiroden Miyajima-guchi by Hiroden Streetcar Line 2
: about 1 hour 10 minutes, roughly 20 km, 260yen.
Hiroden Miyajima-guchi Station -- Miyajimaguchi Pier on foot
: about 1 minute, roughly 70 m on the ground.
# A Hiroden Streetcar on Line 2 may make another stop just before/after Hiroden Miyajima-guchi on day when a boat race is held at the nearby race site.
