Travelling from Kyoto Station to Kurama

I will be in Kyoto for 4-5 days in late October and planning to see the fire festival in Kurama.
I have a JR pass which would cover getting to Tofukuji. Would a Kyoto Sightseeing Pass be valid from Tofukuji to Kurama?
Also, what is the latest time in the evening to catch the train back from Kurama to Kyoto?

The Kyoto Sightseeing Pass seems to be valid on Kyoto municipal subway and buses only, so no, just buy regular tickets.
For the times, check Hyperdia.
