UENO to KAMAKURA

At UENO station you can use your SUICA cxard to buy a ticket all the way to Kamakura (OHFUNA station). Take the Yamanote line (green stripe train) or the Keihin-Tohoku line (blue stripe train) 4 stops to TOKYO station. Those trains are on different sides of the same platform. At TOKYO go downstairs and cross over to platforms 7,8,9 or 10. That is the Tokaido line. The signs should tell you which platform for the next train. It's about 45 mins to OHFUNA. At OHFUNA buy an Enoshima-Kamakura Free Ticket (not free, but a good bargain). That ticket lets you ride the JR lines, the Shonan Monorail and the Enoshima railway all day. Most people get back on a JR train to Kamakura and make a clockwise loop back to OHFUNA. I suggest going the opposite way because there will be fewer people and if you walk out to Enoshima Island you have a betteer chance of seeing Mt. Fuji in the morning light. At OHFUNA take the Shonan Monorail and ride to the end, Enoshima station. After Enoshima Island take the Enoshima railway toward Kamakura. HASE station is where the Daibutsu (big Buddha) is. Just follow the crowd. Here are some maps that may help. Also, search for "JNTO Kamakura" to download a .pdf brochure. http://dickh.zenfolio.com/img/s11/v29/p168254286-4.jpghttp://dickh.zenfolio.com/img/s11/v34/p43746273-5.jpghttp://dickh.zenfolio.com/img/s11/v32/p308723003-4.jpg

Don't worry about rush hour. Many people get off at UENO so it won't be a problem, but don't expect to get a seat. It's only 8 mins. to TOKYO. The Tokaido line should not be crowded because it's going out of Tokyo. I suggest leaving as early as you can. If you get on the monorail at OHFUNA sit on the right side and look to the right you will see the large statue of the Ohfuna Kannon (Goddess of Mercy).

1)&2) I never go to museums so I don't know. 3) UENO to TOKYO, change to the Chuo line. At TAKAO station, walk over to the Keio Railway. It's just a short ride to TAKAOSAN GUCHI, then walk straight ahead to the cable car. It's about 1 hour 20 mins. from TOKYO to TAKAO, so about 2 hours to the top of the cable car, then walk to the temples, etc., it will take most of the day.

From UENO take the Keihin Tohoku line to KAWASAKI - about 1/2 hour. Change to Nambu line.
From their wbe site: Planning to run the shuttle bus service from Noborito Station (Odakyu line or JR Nanbu line) Approximately 16 minutes by foot from Mukougaoka Yuen station of Odakyu-line Approximately 15 minutes by foot from Shuku-Gawara station of JR Nanbu line.
