where to find kendama in a small town? 2014/10/21 09:02
Hi,

I'm in a small coastal city (Tsuruga) and cannot find a kendama anywhere. I visited a couple of second-hand shops and stores that looked like they might have it, but no luck so far. Any ideas?

It's not something expensive and I doubt you find it in a second-hand shop.
Did you try a local toy-store?

I've seen them before at Daiso if your city has one of those... otherwise, maybe check any 100 yen store you can find for them.

If you're fine with brand new ones, they're typically sold at shops that sell "min-gei-hin" (folk craft). Most touristical sites as well as malls have those shops. A quick internet search tells me that an internet user bought one at a souvenior shop in Tsuruga station. Have you really asked around? You can also buy them on-line.
