Kawaguchiko on January 1st

Planned my itinerary and for us the most suitable time for a day trip to Kawaguchiko is on January 1.

Is it ok to go on this day? Will the area be crowded with people? There seems to be alight up and other events on this day.. although i believe some attractions are closed?

Will the KEIO highway bus service operate on new year day? Otherwise I guess I have to use train which takes longer than bus..

I have never been there myself, but I would imagine that a lot of people go to Mount Fuji and its shrines over New Year. So, I think it will be crowded, but ok to go.
