How much distance to keep from golden week?

I plan to go to Japan in May 2015.
How much distance of time should I keep from the golden week ?
The last holiday in 2015 is May 6th.
So is it fine to go to Japan on May 7th,
or should I better wait another 2-3 days ?

The rush is immediately over with May 6. So travel from May 7 will not be influenced at all. To the opposite, many tourist sites are very empty the day after Golden Week.
Not sure how international air tickets get influenced, though.

I landed the last day of GW this year and Uji is correct. I had no issues at all. I di buy my plane tickets 4 months earlier, so I don't know if there was a difference in prices.
