Nikko - still colorful autumn leaves to see

Hello
We are going to be in Nikko from Sunday lunchtime till Monday late afternoon. We were wondering if it's still worth it (regarding the colourful autumn leaves) to visit the lake area? Or shall we concentrate during our 1,5 days only on the temple and shrines? Our accommodation is a bit far away from the Nikko JR station, can we actually get a locker on Sunday lunchtime or will it be crowded?
Thanks Tinka

I visited Nikko on the 26th of Oct. As far as I can remember, there's hardly any colors at Kegon Falls but the Lake was still OK...
