Kansai Area Pass

Hi,

I'm a bit confused about Kansai Area Pass. Is this a good pass to go to places like JR Nanba, Osaka Castle and Universal Studio? Does this pass work with every JR? I'm not quite sure how to get to Osaka Castle from JR Nanba with the pass.
