With regards to the recent news about Earthquake in Japan and having read some news about it, I have not read anything withregards to Tokyo and any aftershocks experienced.
I'm primed to set off for a year end vacation in Tokyo next week but with this recent spat of events, feeling a little uneasy. Can I check if Tokyo is in anyway affected be it slight aftershocks or shakes experienced?
Thank you so much for your time!

Tokyo felt the quake but didn't suffer from it. Earthquakes can happen at any time. If you're very concerned about them, it's best not to visit Japan. Don't worry about them until they happen and you'll be fine.

I don't know what's being reported overseas, but if you're talking about the earthquakes in Nagano that's been going on and off for the past week or so, it has only affected a very small area.
No one has died of it, and although some houses were sadly damaged the general economy and industries are and always has been operated.
Unless you are planning to go skiing in Nagano (which is what the affected area is famous for), you shouldn't worry about touring Japan moreover Tokyo.

I was in Tokyo a few days back during the quake and didn't even realise/feel the earthquake. I only got to know there was one when my parents & colleague mentioned it on skype.
IMO, its safe in Tokyo. But that's just my opinion.

Just to add to my own previous comment, the village of Hakuba, Nagano itself is in operation as well. It's really a very tiny area that was affected. http://sagapon.com/daise-re/blog/?p=6100#comment-15380
