Alpine Route half trip 11th April 2015 2014/12/4 23:12
Hello,

i'am planing my trip to Japan next year in early April 1st-13th, mainly for hanami, but got my eyes on alpine route few days ago.

Was hoping that whole alpine route could get open ~11-12th April but it seems chances for that are thin or none. My question in that case is, if it's possible to complete half trip from Tateyama till Midagahara, and then hike to Murodo on 11 or 12th April ?

The 2015 schedule has already been set with an April 16 opening day. That is extremely unlikely to change.

I don't think they allow hiking along that part of the route outside of the designated trails.

Well correct me please if im wrong here, but according to this link from official site http://www.alpen-route.com/en/wp-content/uploads/walkingmap.pdf. There are 2 hiking courses 1st from Midegahara to Tengudaira, and 2nd from Tengudaira to Murodo. And can't find is now need to search some later but, saw on forum post that implies earlier opening of Alpen Route on Tateyama side on 11th April 2014

Yes, but those hiking courses are completely covered in snow when the snow corridor is open. In order to bypass the route you'd have to take some sort of snowshoeing or crosscountry skiing tour, but I'm not finding any info whether this is something that is even offered.

Last year the Tateyama - Midegahara section opened a few days earlier than the Shinano-Omachi - Murodo section. The part in between those two section, the snow corridor, was closed from both sides until the 16th.

I couldn't find this information on the english part of the site. Is it in the japanese part? I can only see the old announcement for Apr 16 2014.

This information would be very useful for me!

I answer myself: no, it's not 2014. Apparently 平成27 means 2015. (Heisei period 27) :)

if you are a professional climber, you may be able to go. if you are an amateur, you should not go to off-season mountains.
off-season means it is not a leisure time !
