Kanto Pass and visiting Ibaraki 2014/12/18 08:08
Headed back to Japan for 2 1/2 week in October (2nd trip). I will be in Tokyo for 4 days before I activate my JR Pass for the rest of the trip.
Trying to decide if a Kanto Pass is worth it. Is it just like using the JR Pass? I am coming from Narita into Tokyo, taking a day trip to Ibaraki and another day trip to Yokohama. These three trips should make me break even on the Kanto Pass (or be a little less). Is it worth it?

Anything else worth seeing in Ibaraki besides Hitachi Seaside park? Any good food places by Ajigaura station?

Thanks.

If your train is covered, pretty much. In particular, unlike some other regional passes, it does allow you to reserve seats for free like with a countrywide JR Pass.

There is a famous garden in Mito (the Kairakuen). For other stuff, see http://www.ibarakiguide.jp/en/
