Tokyo Day Rail pass best one? 2015/1/9 19:13
Hi all, confused at all the travel day pass options, there are so many including visitor ones available at Narita Airport.

Is there a day pass valid for:
Narita express 14 (JR East?)
Tokyo Metro
JR Yamanote line

Thanks in advance!

For all three of them, no.

Buy the NEX tokyo direct ticket, for use on the narita express. Then just get a suica ic card for normal travel. There are multiple passes for the subways, but i've never seen an plan which would make use of them. Personally i find the JR network far more useful.

Tokyo does not have any good day passes. They are all either overpriced or not valid on all the useful lines. It is usually best to use an IC card (Suica, Pasmo, etc.) and plan your days in a geographically wise way.

Note that the NEX tokyo direct ticket will become a round trip ticket (to be used within 2 weeks) from March 15:

Hi Uji, for the life of me, I cannot find any notice on JR East's English website about the discontinuation of the N'EX Tokyo Direct ticket. Was this notice posted on the Japanese site? Could it be possible that the Round Trip ticket is being added to complement the Tokyo Direct ticket? It would be quite a bummer as we were heading to Tokyo on March 26.

Was this notice posted on the Japanese site?

Yes:

And an English version has been linked from one of the regional JNTO websites in the meantime:

Could it be possible that the Round Trip ticket is being added to complement the Tokyo Direct ticket?

No. The one way ticket will be discontinued. I was also disappointed. I guess it was too good of a deal.

it's a shame that they removed the nex and suica package, it was a great saving.

anyways any savings is better than non, each railway company has their own day saver, do check where it will cover the cost of your full days journey.

The N'EX Tokyo Direct Ticket for those who planned to do the trip in only one way, since you had to pay the full fare for the return trip.

Looks like I'll be taking the Keisei Skyliner since the N'Ex package won't suit me ever again. I'll be in country for 29 days, so the 4000 yen for the 14 day round trip is worthless to me.

Sorry, the N'EX Tokyo Direct Ticket was only a good deal for those who planned to do the trip in only one way.
