Kagoshima - cheap accomodation 2015/2/7 22:14
Hi! I'm planning my trip to Japan.
Would you recommend me some really cheap accommodation in Kagoshima?

In general, accommodation in Kagoshima is cheaper than that in major/touristic cities such as Tokyo and Kyoto. I do not know the reason, but the number of the hotel rooms increased largely in recent years, so there might be a severe competition between hotels which makes the room rate affordable.

You can see the rate of the rooms in the booking sites.

If you prefer hostels, which are cheaper, but the rooms tend to be small and sometimes you must share the room, the following sites will be useful.

Note that some of the "double" rooms shown in the sites have actually one single bed which is somewhat wide (maybe 140 cm width). If you want a single bed per person, you must choose a "twin" room for two, or a single room for one person.

By the way, I checked the room rates in Krakow, Poland, and found that they are really cheap considering the place (Krakow is the most touristic city in Poland, I guess) and the quality of the hotel. Even Kagoshima is more expensive though it is not so interesting place for tourist (I am a Japanese and a resident in Kagoshima).

I recommend your stay at Nakazono Ryokan in Kagoshima city. It cost 4320 yen per person without meals, without private bath or toilet.

@Frog: Exchange rates place a part

@OP: I only stayed at Blue Wave Inn, so I cannot say. But just get a place near a bus/tram/train station and you would be fine. Near the main shopping districts are good too
