Bus to Enryakuji from Kyoto 2015/3/5 23:20
Hi.

What is the bus number and time from Kyoto to Enryakuji in Mt Hiei? Got info in English? I thinking of taking bus there, but back using Eizan way.

Pls advice. Thanks.

I can not find websites written in English.

Departing times vary depending on the date. The upper website tells they do not operate until 20th March.

Thanks for info.

Do you think it's better to use Eizan Cable Car + Ropeway to and back from Enryakuji instead of use bus?

What is more convenient?

I know can go down the mountain at Sakamoto side, but I don't want to go there. I thinking want to eat dinner in Ichijoji area on north Kyoto side.

The bright side of taking the Eizan cable car/ropeway is that it is more frequent, especially after 11:00 or so. In a weekdays, the bus starts only at 8:30, 9:25, 10:30 and 12:30. Further, you can enjoy the view, particularly from the cable car.

On the other hand, bus is less expensive. It is 820 yen while the cable car/ropeway will cost 540+270+730=1540 yen.

If you use Kansai Thru Pass, Sakamoto route will cover all the fare, and it also covers Hieizan bus. You can get off at Demachiyanagi (from Hieizan) and take Keifuku railway to Ichijoji (where I had lived several years 30 odd years ago!).
