Ping sound inside shinkansen car at station 2015/5/28 17:37
Hi,
I have noticed when riding the Shinkansen in Japan when the train has stopped at the stations (not before stopping) there is a pinging sound heard several times with some seconds between.

It is not the train jingle (shanai), just a simple pinging or maybe ponging sound.

Here you can hear it clearly from 16.00 for a few moments...

Those pings help blind people locate the doors.

The door charms are active while shinkansen doors open for people with blind disabilities not to go the opposite side doors to prevent any damages occur.

The charms are also installed around escalators and stairs to warn for those people with blind disabilities.
