Hello,
I plan to travel in Kanto and Kansai in the same trip.
To travel from the area of 'JR Kanto Area Pass' to the area of 'JR Kansai Wide Area Pass' by train, which origin and destination are the best in term of cost saving ?
Thanks, Ton

The networks don't extend far enough out that it makes much sense to try and go as far out on your passes. I'd just take the shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto (or Osaka depending on your itinerary) and go from there. On the other hand, a nationwide JR Pass might also pay off. However, if cost savings are the highest priority then consider taking a highway bus between Tokyo and Kyoto/Osaka instead.

Hi yllwsmrf,
Thanks for your reply. I just checked both nationwide JR pass and highway bus service, the former seems to be a better solution for me.
Thanks, Ton
