Which Tokyo airport is closest? 2015/7/2 00:47
We will be landing in Tokyo and then taking the Nozomi train to Kyoto, but which airport to fly into? Tokyo, Haneda or Narita? Also Is there transportation from the airport to the train station?

Haneda is within Tokyo, just about 20 minutes from the city center, while Narita is about 60-90 minutes outside the city.

Both have train stations inside the airport, but Haneda is more conveniently located for your trip as there are easy connections to Shinagawa Station from where you can catch a Nozomi train to Kyoto.

Note that you may not be able to easily fly into Haneda, though as the international routes may not work out for you. Narita generally has more flights and they are often cheaper flights too.

If you are going direct to Kyoto then why not fly into KIX instead?

Why didn't open Google map and both airport web access pages???

HND closer than NRT is right
but HND based domestic flights mainly intl flights not so many like NRT
so depends on dep country and air fare/timig(date/season).

Narita tends to be cheapest, and there are lots of connections to KIX with low cost carriers such as Jetstar & Peach. For example, I got round trip from CLE - NRT for under $700, but I'm tacking on an extra flight to KIX so I can start in Kansai. Just check the luggage policies.

It is also possible that if you book a ticket to Osaka, you will get a layover in Tokyo but the entire trip will cost the same (or even be cheaper) than just a ticket to Tokyo, so do look into booking a ticket to Osaka if you have not done so already.

Case in point: from Paris (CDG) with ANA, first flight on Sep 17, return on Sep 30. Direct flights to Tokyo both ways: 817.51 euros. To Osaka with a layover in Tokyo: 801.75.

Whether or not it is cheaper, or even possible, is highly dependent on your originating airport. But its definitely worth looking into if you haven't purchased your tickets yet.
