Visit Kyushu in late October or November? 2015/7/5 03:30
Hi,
Wondering if it would "best" to visit Kyushu area in late October or late November, considering weather and so on.

I would like to visit Yakushima as well taking that into consideration.

I have Looked at the information om Wikipedia on climate but I would rather hear your opinions on this.

I visited Yakushima the third week of October 2013, and found the weather very pleasant; and despite of the saying that Yakushima rains 365 days a year, we were lucky, encountered no rain the first 2 days out of the 3 we were there.

I brought my dad to Yakushima. After years spent in Europe and in other parts of Asia, he told me the forest in Yakushima had a lot to be desired.

Weather wise, the closer to summer the better. The closer the winter there's more rain. You might want to circle your trip around autumn season in Kyushu. It rains nearly everyday. Just that in winter it can rain for hours (snow too). Summer is short spurts.

Both months are some of the best to visit Japan. But if you want to see anything like the changing leaf colours, then November (especially the latter half) is the best. There are many places to see it, but one of Kyushu's best is in Akizuki, called a "Little Kyoto" by some there.

Miyama in Fukuoka is also great, and almost nobody knows about it.

Kyushu also has some excellent hiking as well.

When planning the visit to Yakushima in 2013, as I disliked the idea of hiking in the rain , I relied on the weather report * and picked Oct . And I was not disappointed.
