Will Income Affect Decision for Spouse Visa? 2015/7/31 17:19
Hello, I was wondering if spouse visa is ever rejected due to insufficient income? My husband is japanese and has a job but I'm unemployed (work freelance) and only have an advanced diploma instead of a degree. Btw we've been married for 6 months and together for 3 years and now I'm planning to move to japan.

As long as the Japanese spouse has an income that is sufficient to support the two of you, it should be no problem.

Once (though this is already some time ago) when we applied for my non-Japanese husband's status change from "specialist in humanities" to "spouse" because his contract was not renewed, I was a temporary staff (though with an OK income) and he was obviously out of work, but it was fine.

if you, both, are staying out of Japan right now, your husband may not be able to have the official certificate of his last year's income.

In case his tax payment certificate is not available, your husband can provide employment contract, salary statement/details, etc., whatever is available to show his income.
