Which are the must-see places we should visit for a weeklong first trip to Hokkaido during the last week of October?

Sapporo and Otaru are the most popular destinations for any first time visit to Hokkaido. Noboribetsu is a top destination for an onsen experience. Toya-ko has beautiful lake scenery and during the evening there is firework display.
For seasonal highlight go down further south to Hakodate and do a side trip to the Onuma Quasi National Park. In average year late Oct is autumn foliage season in that part of Hokkaido.
