Hello,
I will be visiting japan in September for 24 days, travelling by train.
I want to go a nice othentic place that is not tourists poplar road, also see japanese fishing village.
I was thinking about Tomo-no-ura.
1. Is that place worth a one day tavel for off road and fishing village experience? 2. Are there any other suggentions in this area or maybe shikuko/Kyosho?
Thanks alot!
Amit

Tomonoura is one of a famous place, it is not the fishing village but tourist destination. Onomichi next town of Fukuyama is a good town with the history, From Onomichi you can rent a bicycle, you have left to go to Shikoku using some of the bridge. You'll be able to see the original landscape of Japan at the islands to visit. http://www.go-shimanami.jp/global/english/Have a good day in Japan.

Not popular would be those pilgrim roads. Since mostly pilgrims go there.

Onomichi would be an excellent choice. It is NOT a pilgrim town. And, if you have time, the unique Kosanji Temple is worth a visit.
