Kitaoji Train Station Exit 2015/11/7 16:09
Hello,

We are heading to Kinkakuji Temple... taking the bus from Kitaoji Station. What exit should be take for us to find the bus stop going to Kinjakuji Temple? is it near the train station exit or have to walk long way?

Also, from Kinjakuji temple to the nearest Randen train station (Kitano Hakubaicho) can we walk or again take the bus?

thanks

Hello,

Kitaoji bus terminal is near the south exit of kitaoji train station.
It is under ground 2f of the train station building.
The bus terminal separates two areas, the blue area and the red area.
If You take the 204 or 205 bus at the blue area, you can go Kinkakuji temple.

When you leave Kinkaku-ji, walk straight down to the main street, cross the street and take Bus #101, 102, 204 or 205.

is it near the train station?

Yes.
Kitaoji Station and Kitaoji Bus Terminal exist in one same complex.
The both are under the ground, and the bus terminal is on the upper floor.

You can go up from the platform (on the 3rd basement) by elevator or escalator to the concourse (on the 2nd basement), pass through the south ticket gate and follow signs for Kitaoji Bus Terminal (on the same 2nd basement).

- Map of Kyoto City Subway Kitaoji Station (K04)

: In this map, the north is roughly to the upper right.
: Near the escalator to Exit 2 in this map, you see a black bus icon and a black short arrow, which indicate the direction of the bus terminal.

Then, you can take
a bus on Line 101, 102 or 205 departing at Stand F or
a bus on Line 204 departing at Stand G
to Kinkakuji Michi bus stop.
A one-way ride lasts for about 10 minutes.
Among the four lines, buses run most frequently on Line 205.

Golden Pavilion (= Kinkaku) itself is located about 300 meters away from the bus stand where you would get off your bus.

from Kinkakuji temple to the nearest Randen train station (Kitano Hakubaicho)
can we walk or again take the bus?

It sounds easier to go by bus.
It seems to be about 1.4 kilometer on foot from the bus stand to Kitano Hakubaicho Station.

You can take a bus again in the same direction on the same line (among the above-mentioned four lines), which departs at the same bus stand and runs to the south for Kitano Hakubaicho.
: Near the general gate of Kinkakuji, there are at least five bus stands for two bus stops of similar names.
: Please make sure to get back to the same bus stand.
: Kitano Hakubaicho could be either the second or third bus stop after Kinkakuji Michi.

- Map of bus stands for Kitano Hakubaicho bus stop.
http://www2.city.kyoto.lg.jp/kotsu/busdia/busstop/image/kitano_hakubai...
: In this map, the north end is at the top.
: Probably the real bus stands do not have numbers.

Buses from Kinkakuji Michi on Line 101 arrive at the stand indicated in the map as No. 3,
those on Line 102 arrive at the stand indicated there as No. 2
and those on Lines 204 and 205 arrive at the stand indicated there as No. 5.
