How to travel from Toyama/Tateyama to Ogizawa

Skipping alpene route, is there any other way to travel between Toyama/Tateyama and Ogizawa ? How long will it take ?

Why would you want to go to Ogizawa if not for traveling along the Alpen Route. Ogizawa's only function is being the entrance point to the Alpen Route.

In any case, here is the fast and expensive way (under 3 hours):
1) Take the JR Hokuriku Shinkansen from Toyama to Nagano
2) Take the bus from Nagano to Ogizawa

And the slower but cheaper way (around 4 hours with good transfers)
1) Take the JR Hokuriku Shinkansen from Toyama to Itoigawa
2) Take the JR Oito Line from Itoigawa to Shinano-Omachi (one transfer along the way)
3) Take the bus from Shinano-Omachi to Ogizawa

We are booking our hotel in Toyama and planing to start the alpene route from Ogizawa and end in Toyama and check in hotel.
Suppose in case if the alpene route is suspended (Tateyama-Murodo),I have to come back in alpene route and head to Toyama from Ogizawa.Thats why,posted this question. Alpene route website says Tateyama-Murodo line may be suspended if there is bad weather/heavy snow.
Any other comments/suggestions are also welcome in this regards.
