2 days 1 night Nagoya Trip

We are 4 adult in planning stage for a trip to Nagoya Shirakawa-go and Toyota Factory Tour Museum by mid Nov 2016. We are travelling by our own. We have read a lot but still we can't imagine the travelling time consume, what means of transport & where to take the transport in order to have a smooth and time saving trip.
Is 2 day 1 night enough to cover both places?
if so, where should we stay for the night?
How do we go about our trip?

I think you ideally want to stay two nights if possible, otherwise you could be either rushing from your previous destination to Nagoya to do one activity, or from Nagoya to your next destination to check in. But that all depends on your travel style.

The bus terminal is outside of Nagoya station (there's a map at the bottom of that page).

I would suggest staying somewhere near Fushimi station. From there you can take the Higashiyama subway back one stop to Nagoya station for your Shirakawago trip, and take the Tsurumai subway line as the first leg of the trip to Toyota.
