Ise Shrines and Edo Wonderland in a day? 2015/12/30 07:49
We are looking to travel in early March, and would be coming either from Kyoto or Osaka. Ise Shrine is a definite plan, but could we enjoy Edo Wonderland on the same day? I'm not expecting to do everything in the park, but hitting some of the shows before it closes would be great.

Yes, with a relatively early start and a not too slow pace of travel, it is relatively easily possible.

One thing that is nice about the Ise shrines is that the shrines open at 5:00 AM. You can go there in the early morning, and see them before going to Edo Wonderland even opens.

So, Yes, you can see both in one day.

Getting there from Osaka and Kyoto, however, is another thing. The earliest you'd probably make it is about 8am.

What John-B-Digs-Japan is true...

If you take the 6:05 AM Kintetsu Limited Express from Osaka-Namba station, you will arrive at IseShi Station at 7:51 AM which is earlier than Edo-Wonderland opens. This is a direct train, so you don't have to worry about transfers. The Ise Shrines are open, and you can go to them.

You would then go from the Ise shrines to Edo Wonderland.

For most of the year, Edo-Wonderland closes around 5:00 PM, and there is a Kintetsu Limited Express leaving IseShi station at 5:50 PM. You should have plenty of time to make that connection. Again, this is another direct express train, so traveling should be relatively easy.
