Cherry blossom viewing spots seasons 2016/1/13 23:25
Hi
Does early april refer to 1st wk of apr 1 to 7 ? Does it mean that after apr 7 no more cherry blossoms? All fallen fr trees?
Does mid april refer to 2nd wk of apr 8 to 15? Does it mean that after apr 15 no more cherry blossoms? All fallen fr trees.
If illumination is till 4/12 does it mean still got cherry blossoms flowers in trees?

What abt viewing in march? Does early apr mid apr refer to blooming or full bloom or after full bloom? How long before it drops?

Is there an updated schedule for 2016 for viewing and illumination?

Possible to advise when osaka castle cherry blossoms r still in bloom in 1st to 2nd wk?
Tq.
Love this site very informative.

It's too early to predict the cherry blossom season yet for this year. When predictions are able to be made, it will be front-page news on this website!

Usually yes, "first week of April" means 1-7, and "second week" means 8-15. But that doesn't mean the blossoms will all be gone exactly on the 8th or the 16th - they're part of nature, and don't run to such exact schedules! Those dates are just approximations based on previous sakura seasons.

Most people refer only to somei yoshino trees which have a very short period in full bloom.

Different cherry trees bloom at different times. Depending on variety and location the season is 4-6 weeks. If you travel outside of peak dates, look for early and late varieties.

For example, there are some famous locations in Kyoto that should have good bloom in mid to late April, and those are on my schedule.
