The average daytime high is almost 20 degrees, but the average nighttime low is only around 6 degrees. So, it can be rather cold in the mornings and evenings.

The temperatures I gave you are for the lower station of the ropeway. They are another 7 degrees or so lower at the upper station of the ropeway. If the weather is good and not windy, the temperatures at the top of the ropeway may be mild enough to enjoy the visit with a light jacket, but if it is windy and cloudy, the temperatures could be close to freezing and you would need more protection.

How much there is snow up in the mountains in early May? Is it possible to take the ropeway up and continue the trails all the way to Hotaka-dake? I have necessary equipment for snow hiking (axe, crampons...).
Best Regards, Jarkko
