Kenrokuen Kanazawa 2016/2/5 03:57
We are planning to go to Kanazawa March 22-26. Will there be much green?
I'm wondering if we're able to go end of April if that would be better. Saw Suizen-ji in Kumamoto in December and the brown grass was not so appealing.
Kenrokuen is our primary focus in Kanazawa.
Are there enough evergreens in March for a nice visit?

Try Googling "Kenrokuen Kanazawa in March". You're likely to find photo albums posted by previous travellers which will help you decide if there's enough greenery for you.

There wont be as much greenery as summer, autumn, or early winter but there would be enough to make it interesting.

Thank you SQ and JH.
We were at Tenryuji late April and all the flowering shrubs were so colorful and fragrant. I know Kenrokuen is massuve so just don't want to see huge expanses of brown. Found many pics but not anything that references March specifically. Will report back if we go in March.

You will find flowering plants and shrubs, etc, and that is around the time that the cherry blossoms come out, but the mountains will likely still have a lot of barren brown areas. From late spring is when the whole area turns emerald green.

I just did a Google search for "Kenrokuen in March" and this was the second result:

A series of photos taken in early March. Looks like there's a decent bit of green, which would only improve by late March when you're planning on travelling. Don't forget that the plum blossoms should also be out in March.

Middle of April is the best time to go to Kenrokuen because Sakura will be blooming then. Suizenji Koen in Kumamoto is no an impressive garden. Kenrokuen is so much better!
